Garden
Diana`s garden wraps around three sides of the house in odd sized triangles, not an ideal plot!
Front Garden

The front garden was redesigned in 2001 following the loss of a mature flowering cherry - a victim of the gales. A serpentine partially paved “river bed” gravel path flanked by cottage garden plants and alpines is bordered by reed-like day lilies, Dierama and Crocosmia. The shade area is the focus in Spring with daphne Jacqueline Postill, ferns, snowdrops and hellebores. Many of the shrubs are chosen for their Autumn foliage and fruit. This is an all-seasons garden.
Side Garden

The side garden is the vegetable plot with restricted apple trees including Diana`s own grafted and trained step-overs. raspberries, herbs and seasonal vegetables. The paeony bed is located here and the boundary wall is clothed with roses and clematis.
Rear Garden

The rear garden is South-facing with tender plants, crab apple and restricted pears. The frog pond has been repositioned to a sunnier position to include a water lily. The bench provides a quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine.
All three areas of the garden are designed to give colour and interest throughout the Seasons. It has been developed to support bees and other insect life with carefully chosen plants, log piles and restricted use of chemicals. It is home to many of Diana`s painting subjects including roses, paeonies and hellebores. It is not intended as a "show garden" but a personal response to the challenge of an "awkward" plot.
It is my passion - but I love to share it.
