  Commissions

Commissions are undertaken for paintings in oils, watercolour and pen and watercolour. Prices for commissions will vary according to the medium chosen, size of picture and travel/costs involved.

Commissions are accepted for landscape, architecture and flowers. Buildings can be public or private - house portraits are a popular subject.

Pictures can be commissioned for many reasons -

retirement presents, anniversary gifts, personal choice and many more. Most are based on actual subjects but pictures of past  subjects can be undertaken if there is sufficient information, for example Penarth Baths in their heyday.

A quote and rough sketch can be supplied with no obligation,  email or telephone to discuss.

I feel honoured to be commissioned to design the

first  ever Christmas card for the Friends of Dyffryn Gardens in 2010. The commission was for a pen and watercolour design featuring an aspect of the gardens. The clock tower is a favourite of mine and this gave me the perfect excuse to study it more closely.

The building is an old stables and I have seen several versions of this leadwork clok tower design on stable buildings in stately homes and large estates. It is fascinating to see how designs travelled from place to place. I suppose visitors couldn't resist copying their host's ideas when they got home! It was built in the Nineteenth Century. The clock tower is now home to a bat colony.

The cards will be sold in packets of 4 cards with envelopes at the Friends of Dyffryn events.  A5 prints, mounted to fit a standard 10 x 12 inch frame can be collected from me direct for £12.00 or by post for £15.00, cheque payable to Diana Mead.
